The Opportunity
In 2022 artist and gallerist Margi Sullivan realized a dream — she established her own art gallery. Located in the heart of beautiful Point Richmond, CA, the space was a proverbial blank canvas, shifting from an event space to an art gallery, with areas for live music, artist engagements, receptions and more.
The Challenge
While Margi had decades of experience creating and selling art, this was a first foray into establishing the gallery’s identity. How should she differentiate herself from other galleries? Other arts organizations located in and around Point Richmond? How would she establish her aesthetic and goal of showcasing inspirational art from a wide variety of genres.
The Results
I came on as the brand and marketing expert for the gallery. I crafted the Mission Statement for the space, and designed the layout of the website. I develop all of their online communications, including website copy, email campaigns, social media, event promotion and more, writing the copy and designing the layouts. The results have been very successful, with a growing number of email marketing subscribers totaling close to 3,000, email open rates exceeding 19%, and best of all, customers come to the gallery asking about purchasing specific sculptures and artwork featured on the website. For the Tyler James Hoare show, the team needed to restock the available sculptures due to the enthusiasm and excitement of the opening reception attendees, most who cited the gallery’s website as their inspiration for their purchases.
